Closing the Alternative Data Gap in Retail Credit

Join heads of retail credit and lending for an invitation-only roundtable in Jakarta. Focused on how Indonesian incumbent banks are closing the data gap with digital challengers backed by Gojek, Shopee, and Grab — and building credit decisioning capabilities that work for the country’s fast-growing digital economy.

Roundtable Overview
Indonesia's digital banking landscape now includes 17 OJK-licensed challengers, several backed by the country's dominant super-app ecosystems — Gojek, Shopee, and Grab. Bank Jago grew its loan book from USD 57 million to USD 1.3 billion between 2020 and mid-2025. These challengers benefit from underwriting signals traditional credit bureaus cannot yet replicate: real-time gig income, e-commerce spending behaviour, and ecosystem loyalty data. Incumbent banks are responding with major credit technology investments, ranging from AI decisioning layers on top of existing bureau integrations to full credit platform rebuilds. This roundtable brings together heads of retail credit and chief credit officers to discuss how lending models are evolving, where alternative data can realistically close the gap, and what OJK’s evolving data governance requirements mean for how banks can deploy these signals in production.
