10DX SUMMIT TANZANIA EDITION
Mobile money and telco-led services now operate at national scale — 68 million subscriptions and growing, with TZS 18 trillion flowing through mobile wallets in a single month by mid-2025.
What began as payment wallets are evolving into platforms offering virtual cards, credit, and everyday financial services. Telcos and mobile platforms are extending bank-like capabilities directly to consumers and merchants, while mobile lending apps have become the most common source of credit by number of borrowers — overtaking traditional banks. At the same time, the Bank of Tanzania’s Regulatory Sandbox, launched in 2025, is opening space for financial models not fully covered by existing frameworks.
For Tanzania’s 45 licensed banks, the question is no longer how to digitise — but whether they remain the primary financial interface, or become the infrastructure behind someone else’s platform.
10DX Summit Tanzania convenes senior banking and technology leaders in Dar es Salaam for a candid discussion on where Tanzanian banking actually stands — the competitive pressures, regulatory direction, and strategic choices now in front of bank leadership.
5 May 2026. Dar es Salaam.
